Unbox is a website for a student lead platform based in the University of Oxford that aims to provide undergraduate students with internship programs in the startup sector. My role in the project was to work on the design/branding as well a the user research that would inform the internship structure as well as the web design.
The goals for this site is to allow students to show their interest and apply to the internship program. The site will also be a resource for information about working in a startup.
Developing the Brand Identity
For this project, it was important to show that the brand was playful, simple and dynamic, I brought these qualities into the brand identity design so that Unbox would resonate well with students and startups alike.
I conducted user interviews with students studying a variety of subjects and with a wide range in their understanding of the startup and career interests. From these user interviews, I made a student empathy map which led me to make 3 user personas based around our focus target audience: students.
This sitemap was made after a card-sorting exercise with other team members. Through this IA activity were decided to split the content sections into general - students - startups as this organised the content for each user group.
